In 2021, the EPA put out a plan to address health disparities in Environmental Justice communities from air pollution and the COVID-19 pandemic.

When Rosemary and Jane found out about the Enhanced Air Quality Monitoring grant, they knew they had to apply. After a year and a half of preparations and more paperwork than they could’ve imagined, they were able to hire Lucas Duval as the project’s manager and get the ball rolling on the actual air quality monitoring.

While we haven’t installed any ambient monitors yet, we’re busy making connections with the community, confirming host locations for the monitors themselves, and ironing out the details of our program. Stay tuned as Breathe Easy takes off! We’re looking forward to bringing three good years of data collection and public education on air pollution.
