Central Berkshire Habitat for Humanity
Central Berkshire Habitat for Humanity builds strength, stability and self-reliance through shelter. Habitat for Humanity does not build homes for people, but with them as equal partners. Berkshire County Branch NAACP Housing Committee
Their operations include to study housing conditions in the local community, receive and seek to address complaints of discrimination, oppose all restrictive practices whether public or private, and disseminate information and render such other assistance which may eliminate discrimination in housing. Their long-term goal is to offer a space for activists and everyday people to find community and their voices, in order to ensure their rights. To learn more, click here.
Berkshire Regional Planning Commission (BRPC)
Berkshire Regional Planning Commission provides leadership and assistance to the County’s municipalities, organizations and citizens in achieving County-wide inter-relationships, prosperity, opportunities, quality of life, strength and vibrancy. Through BRPC’s Pittsfield Grey to Green initiative, they aim to improve access to green spaces. Pittsfield Grey to Green installs trees and other plants to absorb heat reflected off of the pavement. BRPC has also been awarded an EPA grant for ambient air quality monitoring. They aim to make opportunities for indoor and outdoor air quality monitoring available to all Berkshire County residents, especially the County’s most vulnerable communities.
